Tarot Cards: Queen of Pentacles
Posted by Magickal Bear
The Queen of Pentacles is a Minor Arcana card that relates to the short-term and day-to-day, compared to the Major Arcana which is related to the more long-term parts of life. Depending on the deck, this suit could be referred to as Pentacles, Coins, Disks, Diamonds, Etc.
This card often depicts a woman on her throne surrounded by nature. As can be assumed by the imagery, this card has heavy ties to all things nature and the natural world. As well as the ties to nature, this suit is heavily associated with money and financial stability.
Upright Position:
The Queen of Pentacles is a card that is rooted in realism and is representative of our daily lives. When this card is drawn out of the deck it is telling us to think practically and to read the signs of nature. This Queen strives to bring health and prosperity to all. It is in the Queen's nature to be nurturing towards everyone around her, this could be a sign of what the querent needs or needs to be more like depending on the situation.
This card serves as a reminder that while spirituality is important and a wonderful tool, it is good to look at the mundane and logical aspects of life. We need to ground ourselves and focus more on the here and now of life to enjoy the present.
This is a card that would advise against escapism at this time. If our body or mind is in a bad place, that negativity will leak into the other aspects of our lives. This makes self care and keeping a clean and positive environment so important. If this is not done, whatever mess that is lingering will seep into the spiritual aspect of the self.
Going back to the idea that this card represents stability and health, this card would advise that before all else, to make sure that the querent has all their basic needs met. This can include things like food, water, and shelter.
In monetary aspects, this card would not recommend overspending unless it is unavoidable. It would be a good idea to budget out any money that needs to be spent to make sure it doesn't cause issues later. This card can also represent abundance in all areas of life as well as sexuality and fertility.
Reversed:
When the Queen of Pentacles is drawn out of the deck in the reversed position it can be alluding to a few things. The biggest thing that this means is that the querent lacks stability and practicality.
This could include anything from mental and physical stability to financial stability. This card is encouraging that one does whatever it takes in order to gain that stability back into their lives, or even gain it for the first time.
The querent could also be relying too much on the spiritual world and expecting things to just happen without taking any action themselves. This could also be referring to having an unrealistic goal, since in the upright position this Queen is very grounded, so in the reversed position she seems to have her head in the clouds. This could be a sign that the querent is using escapism to avoid their problems, but by ignoring these problems, it is only making them worse.
This card could also mean that the querent isn’t in a good place health wise or are in a place where they are neglecting their needs. In some cases this card can represent overspending or spending money irresponsibly for a sense of instant gratification even though financially it is not a good idea.
When this card is drawn out of the deck in the reversed position, it is telling you to put in the work that is needed to to focus on logical solutions to your problems. This would be a good time to put work into grounding practices to get into the right headspace for success. If this is done the querent will reap the awards of abundance and stability.
