The Moon Cycle and its Phases
Posted by Magickal Bear
New Moon:
This phase represents the beginning of the lunar cycle. This is the period where the Moon is not seen. This phase would be a good time to try and release any old habits that don’t serve you. It is also a good time to connect with your inner self, intuition, and dreams. You can achieve this by setting intentions and writing down things you want to manifest, some may find that journaling is helpful during this period. This would be good to do a couple days before and after the New Moon. Doing this during this cycle is important because when we don’t consciously decide our manifestations, it is very likely that our subconscious mind will take over and manifest our fears instead. Meditating is also useful during this time because it allows the conscious to connect with the subconscious.
Waxing Moon:
This section will include all of the incremental phases that occur during this phase. These three phases will all occur in the span of approximately two weeks. During this phase, the Moon will slowly start growing larger. This period is all about growth and taking action towards your manifestations and goals. This is the time where you should experiment, try new things, and even take risks. This phase encourages an exploration of the self and to face any challenges that lay in the way. During this time it's good to be gentle and non judgemental towards the self, as this is a journey of self discovery and betterment. If you notice yourself being harsh towards yourself make note of it and try to change the judgment to something positive.
Full Moon:
This is the phase of the Moon where it is entirely lit up and its power is at its highest. Many involved in the metaphysical world use this as an opportunity to do rituals and ceremonies because of how much energy the Moon is giving off. This is a point where it would be good to reflect on the progress you’ve made and decide if there is anything you would like to change or add to your manifestations. To do this, look back on the things you have experienced so far and reflect how they made you feel. Continue to connect with yourself and release anything that no longer serves you. For the best results it is best to do any work revolving around the Full Moon a couple days before and after it because it allows preparation time.
Waning Moon:
This section includes all of the incremental phases that occur during this phase. Again like its Waxing counterparts, this entire process will take approximately two weeks. In this case though, the lit up parts of the moon are slowly growing smaller. This should be a less chaotic time because it serves as a time of processing after the powerful Full Moon. You will have time to adapt and accept anything that may have happened prior, whether it makes you feel good or sad. As we all know, letting go isn’t easy but sometimes needs to happen for us to better our lives. After this period is over we come full circle back to the New Moon. Once we are back to this phase we can reflect on the events of the previous Moon Cycle and everything that we learned. This will help us prepare appropriately for the new cycle.
