Larimar

Larimar is a rare blue form of Pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic. It’s a sodium calcium silicate and its Mohs hardness is 4.5-5. It grows in a solid mass and is recognizable as its characteristic blue with white “webbing.” In some cases it has a blue-green appearance and even spots of green. Incredibly difficult and dangerous to mine, Larimar forms in basaltic lava cavities and can only be reached through narrow, vertical tunnels. For this reason mines are often shut down as deaths do occur, making this mineral more and more rare to come upon, which can also cause great fluctuations in price.

A Throat Chakra stone, Larimar is said to have soothing and calming properties. and is a great stone to use when you're feeling overwhelmed or afraid.
