Sodalite

Sodalite is a blue crystalline mineral, a chloric sodium aluminum silicate. It has a hardness of 5.5-6 and its name is derived from its abundance of sodium content. Sodalite is a silicon monoxide (SiO2) mineral, which forms in the high-pressure metamorphic conditions of deep burial and high temperature and typically occurs as bluish stones with white veins. Sodalite is in the isometric crystal system and is usually found in masses vs. crystal formations. Sodalite can be found in Namibia, Canada, India and the United States, with the largest deposit having been discovered in Bahia, Brazil.

The color of sodalite ranges from deep blue to light blue or gray but can sometimes be found in white, yellow, red or green. The common blue formation of Sodalite includes bands and sections of white calcite.
